صرح الناطق الإعلامي لشرطة المنطقة الشرقية بأنه عند الساعة الحادية عشرة وخمس عشرة دقيقة من مساء يوم الاثنين الموافق 5 / 12 / 1435 هـ ، تعرضت إحدى النقاط الأمنية ببلدة العوامية لإطلاق نار من مصدر مجهول مما نتج عنه إصابة أحد رجال الأمن حيث تم نقله الى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج والرعاية الطبية اللازمة .
وأضاف أن الجهات الامنية المختصة بشرطة محافظة القطيف باشرت اجراءات الضبط الجنائي للجريمة والتحقيق فيها . ولا يزال الحادث محل المتابعة الامنية .
